The Alpine Group and Capitol Funding Solutions Secure $200M DoE Grant Award for ENTEK
WASHINGTON, DC – The Alpine Group, a leading bipartisan, bicameral government affairs consulting firm, announced today that its newly formed competitive funding practice helped secure a $200M U.S. Department of Energy grant for its client, ENTEK. This is the first significant grant award since Alpine expanded its core suite of services to include a comprehensive competitive funding practice alongside its existing suite of government affairs services. The practice is helmed by Capitol Funding Solutions CEO Becky Nictakis. Capitol Funding Solutions, a woman-owned business, has an experienced team with a strong track record of identifying competitive funding opportunities, consulting for grant-readiness on the organizational and project level, and writing applications, proposals, and concept papers.
The DOE grant is part of $2.8 billion in funding from the recently passed bipartisan infrastructure law aimed at manufacturing of materials for the essential component parts for batteries for electric vehicles. The award will aid in the construction of a new lithium battery separator plant in the U.S. to produce enough material for approximately 1.4 million electric vehicles.
At an event hosted last week by President Joe Biden on the bipartisan infrastructure law, ENTEK President Kim Medford said this grant gives them the “fighting chance to compete globally right here from the United States with American operations.” For more on the Biden-Harris grant awards click here.
“We approached the Alpine Group seeking their help to grow our American battery component manufacturing business. They gave us a seamless, integrated team that is readily available, knows the ins and outs of Congress and federal agencies and made a huge difference in ENTEK receiving this grant from the Biden Administration. Becky and her team at Capitol Funding Solutions were strategic, accessible and unmatched in their ability to help us showcase ENTEK’s unique position in the domestic battery supply chain,” said Medford.
“When we formed our partnership with Becky to create a competitive funding practice, we sought to bring new opportunities to our clients and help them achieve their goals. This is a huge priority for the companies we represent and we are thrilled that has been so successful,” said Les Spivey Managing Principal & CEO of the Alpine Group. “We set out to bring decades of lobbying expertise together with the best competitive funding practitioners out there. We believe ENTEK’s success is an example – and hopefully just the start – of what we can achieve.”
“This is a perfect test case of our new competitive funding approach and we are so thrilled for ENTEK. They are poised to scale up manufacturing of a critical component for one of the most anticipated growth industries in our country,” said Becky Nictakis. “I am proud that our combined team at Capitol Funding Solutions and Alpine were able to play a part in their success.”
