FTA Announces Nearly $8.9 Million for Tribal Transit Projects

On Tuesday, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced $8,935,753 in competitive grants for the FY 2023 Public Transportation on Indian Reservations (Tribal Transit) Program. The program provides planning, capital, and operating assistance for Tribal public transit services in rural areas. Proposals should include information such as destinations and services not currently accessible by transit; needs for access to jobs or health care; safety enhancements; special needs of elders or individuals with disabilities; behavioral health care needs of youth; income-based community needs; or other mobility needs. Examples of eligible projects include capital investment for start-ups, replacement, or expansion and operating assistance; or planning projects for future implementation. Applications will be evaluated based on the degree to which the proposed project is developed; demonstrates that a sound basis for the project exists; and readiness to be implemented if the project is funded.
USDA Announces $1 Billion Under the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP)

Today, USDA announced $1 billion in grants available under the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) to help agricultural producers and rural small businesses invest in renewable energy systems and make energy-efficiency improvements. Recipients may use REAP funds to install renewable energy systems or to make energy-efficiency improvements. The funding will also include the creation of the first underutilized technology fund in the REAP program, with $144.5 million available in dedicated funding. Eligible applicants include rural small businesses and agricultural producers. USDA will hold competitions quarterly through Sept. 30, 2024.
DOE Announces $50 Million to Incentivize Smart Manufacturing at Small- and Medium-Sized Facilities

Today, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced $50 million in funding from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for states to ensure that smart manufacturing technologies and high-performance computing are more accessible by domestic manufacturing firms. The State Manufacturing Leadership Program aims to remove existing barriers that prevent innovative, data-driven tools and technologies from being used by small- and medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs). These critical tools will allow SMMs to increase production efficiency and play key roles in bolstering the domestic manufacturing base.

EPA Announces $775 Million Investment in Clean Water Infrastructure Upgrades
March 31, 2023 — This funding for water infrastructure is provided from the 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act for states, Tribes, and territories through this year’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF). The funding will help communities upgrade essential wastewater and stormwater systems to protect public health and treasured water bodies across the nation.
FAA awards $20 Million to Modernize 29 Airport Control Towers
March 31, 2023 —This funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law goes to smaller and regional airports to help improve safety, lower costs and support local businesses. Funding will also support important aviation operations such as commercial services, emergency services, agricultural aviation, flight training, and shipping of goods.
