TOTE Maritime & Puerto Rico Terminals Awarded $2.8 Million through Reduction of Truck Emissions at Port Facilities Program
DOT Funding Will Support EV Infrastructure at the Port of San Juan

Washington, D.C. — Capitol Funding Solutions (CFS) is pleased to announce that Puerto Rico Terminals, LLC and TOTE Maritime were awarded $2.8 million through the Department of Transportation’s Reduction of Truck Emissions at Port Facilities Grant Program. To reduce emissions at the Port of San Juan, funding will be used to purchase zero-emission electric trucks and charging stations, improving air quality at the port and nearby communities.
ABOUT THE AWARDED PROJECT:
Project Title: Electric Terminal Tractors in Puerto Rico Terminals
Project Location: Port of San Juan, Puerto Rico
Funding from the program will be used to purchase seven zero-emission electric trucks to replace emission-producing diesel trucks at the Port of San Juan. In addition, seven fast-charging stations will be installed at the port, including upgraded infrastructure to support the new charging capabilities. As a result, nearly 3,000 fewer gallons of diesel fuel will be used each year.

Created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), the Reduction of Truck Emissions at Port Facilities Grant Program invests in port electrification and efficiency improvements. The program aims to reduce pollution from idling trucks while modernizing infrastructure and strengthening supply chains through port electrification and efficiency improvements.
