CFS Award Announcement:

DRA Awards $1.3 Million to the City of West Monroe for Infrastructure Enhancements

Investments to Support Local Economic Development and Strengthen Public Utilities

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 31, 2024

Washington, D.C. — Capitol Funding Solutions (CFS) is pleased to announce that the City of West Monroe, LA, has been awarded $1.3 million through two proposals for local infrastructure and essential public utilities. These awards from the Delta Regional Authority’s (DRA) Community Infrastructure Fund (CIF) and the States’ Economic Development Assistance Program (SEDAP) will support major infrastructure projects critical to West Monroe’s economic growth and downtown development.

ABOUT THE PROJECTS

Cotton Street Utility Upgrades

The city will use a $509,000 SEDAP grant to fund the reconstruction of 770 feet of sewer infrastructure along Cotton Street in downtown West Monroe. The current sewer systems are outdated, presenting significant challenges for both established and emerging businesses as they strive to meet modern standards. This project will improve service reliability, enhance capacity, and better support the area’s rapid growth. Once completed, these upgrades will support local businesses, enhance public health standards, and allow for sustainable development throughout the community.

Constitution Drive Infrastructure Improvements

The city will invest nearly $871,000 from the CIF to improve public infrastructure on Constitution Drive, a key business street vital for the city’s economic sustainability. This project will involve milling, patching, and overlaying 2,805 feet of roadway to ensure safer, more accessible passage for both commercial and local traffic. Constitution Drive plays a pivotal role in local industry, connecting community landmarks such as the West Monroe Sports and Events Center. These improvements will strengthen the infrastructure supporting local business operations, stimulate further development, and enhance public safety.
